EASE Core Course Descriptions
Academic Writing Skills with Grammar (002) introduces advanced grammar, strengthens students' skills for more effective written English.
University Listening and Speaking Skills (025) is an integrated listening and speaking course. Students will improve their note-taking skills and their ability to understand longer lectures, particularly on unfamiliar subjects. Students will participate in discussions, debates and interviews and give short presentations.
Essay and Research Writing Skills (004) emphasizes writing with a sophistication of content and style, and a high level of conciseness and accuracy. In addition to improving overall writing and editing skills, students will plan and develop research papers.
Advanced Reading and Study Skills (005) focuses on the strategies and exercises that prepare students to take the Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) assessment in April. Students will read material from texts, academic journals and other sources, as well as improve their test taking skills.
