Program Cost for International Students
Campus and Community Package
- CAMPUS - 15 to 20 hours of VIU classes and support each week
- COMMUNITY - 5 to 10 hours of community involvement each week
= 25 hours per week - $347 per week; for example, 10 weeks of EASE is $3,470
CAMPUS – Powell River VIU Courses
- Morning English classes with Canadian students on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. This is a full Canadian immersion experience with adult students.
- 4 hours of ESL classes with ESL students
Full Campus and Community package includes the following options. Choose additional classroom hours each week:
CAMPUS EXTRAS
- Evening English/ESL classes two nights per week
- Observation of first year University English and Psychology classes - each class is 3 hours per week
- Eldercollege courses – computers, philosophy, opera, book binding, kayaking, Camino de Santiago presentation, digital photography, nutrition – each course has a different number of sessions and times and is listed in the Continuing Education guide
- One-on-one tutor: Each student has a weekly session with a tutor
- Writing Centre is available to EASE students Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays
- Textbooks for the morning English and ESL classes are included in the package

Full-time Campus and Community students are matched by interests with Powell River community organizations and businesses. Students can choose to participate in 5 or 10 hours of community activities and volunteer placements each week.
- School placements
- Therapeutic horseback riding
- Dog training, handling and grooming
- Recreation Complex activities – physical activity and interest courses, aerobics, skating, arts and crafts, zumba, swimming, hockey and more
- Academy of Music – a variety of lessons and events
- Community groups and clubs: square dancing, aikido, curling, choirs, paddling, hiking and more
- Special group field trips, for example, skiing and snowboarding at Mount Washington on Vancouver Island, spring and fall golfing at Myrtle Point golf course
